Senior DevOps Engineer Observability Platform (m/w/d)

Job summary

As a Senior DevOps Engineer for the Observability Platform at EDEKA IT, you will own the end-to-end observability architecture and design the telemetry ingestion and networking architecture for fleet-scale deployments.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in DevOps or related fields.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.
• Knowledge of the VictoriaMetrics observability ecosystem.
• Experience with Metrics, Logs, and Traces.
• Familiarity with event-driven systems and message brokers.
• Expertise in Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform.
• Ability to design for scale.
• Experience managing telemetry-related costs.
• Participation in on-call rotations and incident response.
• Excellent written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end observability architecture.
• Design and operate the edge telemetry layer.
• Build and operate the centralized backend on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
• Evaluate and select the metrics backend.
• Design the telemetry ingestion and networking architecture.
• Optimize telemetry cardinality and costs.
• Define infrastructure as code using Terraform.
• Build the alerting and SLO framework.
• Implement observability for the platform.
• Establish retention policies and runbooks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
