Senior DevOps Engineer

Job summary

This senior backend engineering role builds and operates platform services for digital health applications, owning capabilities from design and implementation through deployment and maintenance. The work includes developing scalable, secure APIs, monitoring service health, managing incidents and root-cause analysis, improving CI/CD processes, and contributing to technical design and architecture. The technology stack includes Java, relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, Docker, Kubernetes, and preferably Google Cloud Platform.

Qualifications

• Extensive Java development experience and understanding of web service frameworks.
• Experience designing and building service-oriented architectures.
• Experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform.
• Ability to work autonomously and deliver initiatives end to end.
• Strong problem-solving skills and commitment to maintainable code.
• Experience in a regulated industry such as healthcare is desirable.
• Curiosity about AI and experience experimenting with AI-powered development tools is desirable.
• Experience in a fast-paced scale-up environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate reliable backend services.
• Own software domains and their underlying components.
• Develop and manage scalable, secure, high-performance APIs.
• Monitor and maintain the health of owned services.
• Manage incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement preventive actions.
• Contribute to technical proposals, design documentation, and architecture discussions.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and development processes.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and squad members on projects and technical decisions.
• Participate in team ceremonies and the OKR framework.
• Review code and provide constructive feedback.
