Senior DevOps Engineer

Job summary

The Senior DevOps Engineer leads cloud infrastructure, platform reliability, and delivery automation, while mentoring engineers and setting operational standards. The role builds and manages containerized and serverless systems on AWS, including ECS with Fargate, and develops infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and internal developer tooling. It also improves production stability through monitoring, incident analysis, and automation.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure, or platform engineering.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience with AWS ECS and Fargate, Docker, or other container orchestration platforms, including building and running Docker containers.
• At least 2 years of experience in a Windows Server environment, including basic server administration.
• Hands-on experience with AWS or another cloud hosting environment and knowledge of networking fundamentals, including VPCs, subnets, NAT, and routing.
• Proficiency with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible and with CI/CD pipelines.
• Programming or scripting skills in Python, Node, C#, Go, Bash, or similar, and comfort using command-line tools and Git.
• Software engineering and platform tooling experience focused on developer productivity, including automation supported by LLMs.
• Ability to reduce toil through automation and deliver autonomously with little oversight.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience building internal developer platforms.
• Advanced CI/CD experience, including GitHub Actions or complex AWS CodePipeline architectures.
• Experience with ECS, EKS, or other container orchestration tools.
• Experience maintaining enterprise-level Active Directory domains.

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and manage containerized applications and serverless systems on AWS ECS with Fargate.
• Implement infrastructure as code and system provisioning with Terraform, Ansible, and AWS Image Builder.
• Develop AWS Lambda functions or container-hosted services for automation and monitoring.
• Establish and improve CI/CD standards, deployment pipelines, and operational practices.
• Manage deployments using GitHub, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, and CodePipeline.
• Build internal developer platforms and tooling to improve developer productivity.
• Monitor system performance, analyze production incidents, and improve site reliability.
• Maintain system health through CloudWatch monitoring, emergency escalation, and proactive issue resolution.
• Mentor junior engineers on DevOps practices, automated workflows, and cloud architecture.
• Align infrastructure strategy with Engineering and Product leadership.
