Senior DevOps / Platform Engineer

Job summary

CipherScale is seeking a Senior DevOps / Platform Engineer to take ownership of their AI-native platform and release-engineering systems.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, Release Engineering, DevOps, SRE, or related role
• Experience independently owning a platform or release-engineering function
• Strong production experience with Google Cloud Platform and Cloud Run
• Experience designing and operating CI/CD systems using GitHub Actions
• Knowledge of GitHub rulesets, branch protection, and Git-based workflows
• Experience operating CI at scale across multiple repositories
• Experience building release automation and progressive-delivery workflows
• Understanding of build pipelines and rollback strategies
• Experience creating isolated QA environments
• Knowledge of infrastructure as code and automated cloud provisioning
• Understanding of Linux, containers, networking, and cloud security
• Experience improving CI reliability and performance
• Ability to diagnose complex failures across systems
• Proficiency in a scripting or programming language like Python or Go
• Strong written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with a distributed team

Responsibilities

• Own the strategy, architecture, and operation of platform and release-engineering systems
• Design and maintain scalable infrastructure using GCP, Cloud Run, and managed cloud services
• Own CI across a six-repository cluster for safe and high-velocity releases
• Build and operate platform gates for trunk integration and production releases
• Implement and maintain merge queues, GitHub rulesets, and repository-level delivery policies
• Design isolated review, build, integration, and QA environments
• Build release automation for progressive delivery and rapid rollback
• Improve build performance, test reliability, and CI resource efficiency
• Establish release observability and deployment metrics
• Create release-gating policies balancing speed and stability
• Partner with engineers to enhance testability and operational readiness
• Reduce manual intervention in the release lifecycle
• Investigate CI and release failures and implement corrective actions
• Apply secure practices to credentials and deployment workflows
• Define platform standards and documentation for developer onboarding
• Use AI tools to improve platform systems and operations
• Evaluate AI-native approaches to release engineering and automation
