Senior DevSecOps & Platform Engineer

Job summary

This senior engineer designs, develops, secures, and maintains DevSecOps platforms, enterprise applications, and infrastructure for a Department of Defense research, development, test, and evaluation environment. The role builds GitLab CI/CD pipelines, supports Docker and Kubernetes, develops Python and JavaScript applications with relational databases, and implements cybersecurity compliance and vulnerability remediation. It also evaluates and integrates AI/ML capabilities, including large language models and agentic workflows.

Qualifications

• Seven to ten years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree.
• Professional experience in DevSecOps, platform engineering, software development, or a related discipline.
• Experience with Linux, Windows, Docker, Kubernetes, VMware vSphere, and GitLab CI/CD.
• Programming experience with Python and JavaScript.
• Experience with relational databases, including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle SQL, MySQL, or MariaDB.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, vulnerability management, and secure software development.
• Experience with STIGs, ACAS, SCAP, static code analysis, or comparable compliance tools and processes.
• Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and technical communication skills.
• Must currently hold a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable DevSecOps platforms.
• Develop and optimize GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Support containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Administer Linux and Windows environments and support VMware vSphere infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain Python and JavaScript applications integrated with relational databases.
• Integrate automated testing, code validation, and security practices throughout the software lifecycle.
• Implement and validate STIGs and support vulnerability assessment and remediation using ACAS, SCAP, McAfee tools, and Xray.
• Evaluate and integrate AI/ML technologies, large language models, and agentic workflows.
• Advise technical teams and government stakeholders on architecture, deployment, security, and infrastructure modernization.
• Maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and configuration records.
