Senior II DevOps Engineer

Job summary

The Senior SaaS Platform Operations Engineer operates and continuously improves cloud-hosted SaaS platforms, ensuring production availability, performance, security, and reliability. The role covers incident investigation and recovery, application deployments, monitoring and alerting, automation, operational documentation, and audit support, working with Engineering, DevOps, and Support teams. The technical environment includes Microsoft Azure services such as AKS and Azure Monitor, Kubernetes, Docker, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Bicep.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting cloud-hosted SaaS applications in production.
• Strong Microsoft Azure experience, including AKS, App Services, Networking, Storage, Key Vault, Azure Monitor, and ACR.
• Experience troubleshooting distributed applications, cloud infrastructure, and deployment pipelines.
• Linux and Windows administration experience.
• Experience with SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
• Scripting and automation experience using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Bicep.
• Experience configuring monitoring and alerting tools such as Grafana, Elastic, or Azure Monitor.
• Experience supporting APIs, integrations, and authentication technologies, including single sign-on.
• Ability to create and maintain operational procedures and runbooks.
• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and root-cause analysis skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Desirable: experience with C#/.NET applications, CI/CD tooling, Web Application Firewalls, regulated environments, Azure OpenAI, RAG, or AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and support production SaaS platforms to maintain availability, performance, and reliability.
• Investigate and resolve platform, deployment, application, and authentication issues, including single sign-on incidents.
• Execute application deployments, configuration changes, and release activities.
• Maintain and improve operational runbooks, recovery procedures, and standard operating processes.
• Configure and optimise monitoring and alerting for incident detection and response.
• Automate operational tasks to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with Engineering and DevOps teams to improve platform resilience and release quality.
• Produce availability and operational reports and identify improvement opportunities.
• Support platform audit, compliance, and security activities.
• Participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota and support incident recovery.
