Job summary

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer develops, maintains, and improves secure ICT infrastructure supporting mission-critical policing operations. The role involves managing networks, inter-site links, servers, data infrastructure, and cryptography; resolving complex incidents within agreed SLAs; and leading technical solutions to defined standards and timelines. It also includes equipment installations, server-room work, occasional desktop support, frequent regional travel, and on-call response.

• Proven experience supporting and managing ICT networks, inter-site links, server and data infrastructure, and cryptography.
• Experience scoping, planning, and leading delivery of technical solutions.
• UK driving licence.
• Must pass and maintain DV vetting and enhanced security checks.
• Must be a British national and have resided in the UK for the past ten years, subject to stated exemptions.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and improve core ICT infrastructure.
• Diagnose complex infrastructure issues and restore services within agreed SLAs.
• Build and manage networks, inter-site links, servers, data infrastructure, and cryptography.
• Scope, plan, and lead technical solutions to agreed standards and project timelines.
• Troubleshoot and install equipment in server rooms and specialist technical environments.
• Support desktop services and office refits when required.
• Participate in regional on-call arrangements and provide immediate response.
