Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Job summary

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for enhancing the reliability, security, and scalability of infrastructure in Azure and hybrid environments. Key responsibilities include designing and maintaining Azure infrastructure, leading projects, improving automation practices, and supporting Microsoft workplace technologies. This role requires collaboration with various technology teams to implement infrastructure improvements and ensure robust security measures.

Qualifications

• strong background in Infrastructure, Cloud or Platform Engineering
• solid Microsoft Azure experience
• good understanding of networking, identity, security and cloud technologies
• experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and automation
• strong PowerShell and troubleshooting skills
• experience delivering infrastructure projects in a structured environment
• good communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain Azure and hybrid infrastructure
• Lead infrastructure projects from technical design through to implementation
• Improve automation, standardisation and Infrastructure-as-Code practices
• Support Microsoft workplace technologies and virtual desktop environments
• Strengthen infrastructure security, monitoring and vulnerability management
• Support backup, disaster recovery and business continuity
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and act as a senior technical escalation point
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards and processes
• Work with wider technology teams to deliver infrastructure improvements and new platforms
