Job summary
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is tasked with designing, implementing, and supporting robust on-premises and cloud infrastructure. This role involves managing cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure and AWS, administering servers and networks, and developing infrastructure as code using tools such as PowerShell and Terraform to enhance system performance and security.

Qualifications
- substantial experience in a senior infrastructure engineer, systems engineer, cloud engineer or similar role
- strong experience supporting Microsoft Windows Server and/or Linux operating systems
- practical experience with cloud infrastructure
- strong understanding of networking principles
- experience with virtualisation technologies
- knowledge of backup, disaster recovery, monitoring, high availability and business continuity solutions
- experience with automation, scripting or infrastructure as code
- good understanding of cyber security principles
- strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- excellent communication skills
- ability to manage competing priorities
Responsibilities
- design, build and maintain secure, scalable and highly available infrastructure
- administer and support servers, virtualisation platforms, networks, storage, identity services and endpoint technologies
- manage and improve cloud infrastructure
- monitor infrastructure performance, availability, capacity and security
- develop and maintain infrastructure as code, configuration management and automation
- lead infrastructure upgrades, migrations, system integrations and technology refresh projects
- support incident, problem and change management processes
- implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery, business continuity and high-availability solutions
- apply security controls, patching standards, access management and vulnerability remediation
- work closely with software development, service desk, information security and business teams
- provide technical leadership, mentoring and knowledge sharing
- maintain accurate infrastructure diagrams, procedures, asset records and operational documentation
