Job summary

The Senior Unix Engineer role is essential for supporting and evolving enterprise Unix and Linux platforms that are critical for business operations. Responsibilities include leading the administration and optimization of these environments, driving automation with tools like Shell scripting, Python, Ansible, and Terraform, and collaborating with various technical teams to enhance system resilience and performance.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in Unix/Linux systems administration or engineering within large-scale enterprise environments
• Experience with enterprise operating systems such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), SUSE Linux, IBM AIX
• Advanced knowledge of Unix/Linux operating system architecture, administration, performance tuning
• Experience managing operating system patching, upgrades, lifecycle management
• Capability in Shell scripting and automation
• Knowledge of storage technologies including LVM, SAN, NAS
• Experience supporting high-availability, clustering, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions
• Understanding of TCP/IP networking, DNS, SSH, HTTP/HTTPS

Responsibilities

• Lead the administration, optimisation, and continuous improvement of enterprise Unix/Linux environments
• Drive infrastructure automation and operational efficiency through tools such as Shell scripting, Python, Ansible, Terraform
• Partner with application, database, middleware, network, security, and architecture teams
