Job summary
Jonas und der Wolf GmbH is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to build and lead a reliable infrastructure and IT service team. This role involves shaping the future infrastructure roadmap, optimizing self-hosted and cloud infrastructure, and ensuring system performance. Qualifications
- Minimum five years of professional experience in Linux system engineering/administration or comparable knowledge
- Deep knowledge in administering Linux servers, container environments (Docker/Portainer), and CI/CD systems (GitLab)
- Proficient with automation tools (Ansible) and monitoring/observability stacks (Grafana, InfluxDB, Telegraf)
- Solid understanding of computer networks, experience managing network services (e.g., WireGuard, Ubiquity, OpenID Connect), and access/permission management (e.g., Google Workspace)
- Strong automation mindset, reflective approach to new technologies (e.g., AI), and enthusiasm for open source
- Communicative, solution-oriented, and calm under pressure
- Appreciates cross-team collaboration and can convey technical topics clearly
- Very good German language skills (at least C1) and good English language skills
Responsibilities
- Actively support building a reliable infrastructure and IT service team
- Proactively share expertise with colleagues
- Guide the team in structured prioritization and task distribution
- Shape a future-oriented infrastructure roadmap
- Drive the development of infrastructure architecture and technology selection
- Administer and optimize self-hosted and cloud infrastructure (SaaS)
- Ensure system performance through patch management and backup/recovery process review (e.g., BorgBackup)
- Collaborate with developers and platform team on development-related systems (e.g., GitLab, Sentry)
- Implement technical measures for information security
