Job summary
The Senior Java Cloud & DevOps Engineer role involves designing, scaling, and securing a high-throughput SaaS platform for mobile identity verification. Responsibilities include backend engineering, managing containerized workloads on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Kubernetes, and architecting CI/CD pipelines for zero-downtime releases, ensuring high availability and security.

Qualifications
- Strong Java skills
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) (or AWS with a strong desire to focus on GCP)
- In-depth knowledge of RESTful API architecture, JSON, XML, and relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle)
- Strong grasp of application security principles, identity/cryptography standards, and OWASP guidelines
- Ability to take ownership of complex architectural challenges from design and prototyping to production rollout
- Full professional proficiency in English (both verbal and written)
- Take part in periodic 24/7 on-call shifts to support incident management and platform reliability
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the high-performance ReadID SaaS backend with a security-first, high-availability mindset
- Manage, optimize, and deploy containerized workloads across multi-region Kubernetes (GKE) environments on GCP and other cloud infrastructures
- Architect robust CI/CD pipelines supporting zero-downtime releases, canary/progressive deployments, and automated rapid rollbacks
- Write clean, modular, and thoroughly tested code (Unit, Integration, E2E) with backward-compatible APIs and technical documentation
- Participate in release testing and validation to ensure seamless interoperability across diverse mobile devices and international identity documents
- Proactively drive infrastructure-as-code, backend optimization, observability, and automated operational workflows
- Collaborate with cross-functional, global engineering teams and enterprise customers in an agile setup
