Senior Kubernetes Architect - On Premises Cloud (m/w/d)

Job summary

Senior Kubernetes Architect for On-Premises infrastructure responsible for design and operation of container platforms, integration of CNCF technologies, and establishment of Infrastructure as Code.

Qualifications

• Several years of experience as Cloud Architect, Platform Engineer, or Senior DevOps Engineer, ideally focused on building data center or on-premises infrastructures with deep practical experience outside of managed cloud services
• Excellent knowledge of Kubernetes architecture (Control Plane, etcd, Kubelet)
• Deep understanding of Linux operating systems, virtualization, and ideally bare-metal provisioning
• Strong knowledge of traditional and containerized network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, BGP, VXLAN) and experience with block and file-based on-prem storage
• Proficient in CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions), IaC (Terraform, Ansible), and container runtimes (containerd, CRI-O)
• Analytical thinking, strong problem-solving skills for complex infrastructure incidents, and strong communication skills

Responsibilities

• End-to-End responsibility for design and operation of container platforms and development of high-availability, scalable, secure Kubernetes clusters in on-premises environment
• Selection, evaluation, and integration of CNCF technologies for local data center
• Design of complex container networks and implementation of Zero-Trust concepts, Network Policies, and Pod Security Standards
• Establishment of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform/Ansible and GitOps workflows for automated deployment of clusters and workloads
• Conceptualization of monitoring, logging, and tracing solutions and definition and monitoring of SLOs/SLIs
• Technical consulting for development teams during application migration to on-prem cloud and providing leadership and coaching
