(Senior) Platform Engineer / Architekt (m/w/d)

Job summary

Union Investment is seeking an experienced (Senior) Platform Engineer / Architect to join their AI competence center. This role focuses on developing innovative AI solutions and involves maintaining the platform for productive AI and Advanced Analytics applications. The position requires expertise in containerization, Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD pipelines, and collaboration with various teams.

Qualifications

• Completed degree in Computer Science or a comparable IT-related field, or equivalent qualification
• At least 3 years of experience with CI/CD pipelines and stable, secure, and cost-efficient operation on hyperscalers (preferably Microsoft Azure)
• At least 3 years of experience in building hardened containers (Docker) and operating them on Kubernetes clusters (AKS) via Helm and ArgoCD
• At least 3 years of experience in building and maintaining reusable Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) templates and modules (e.g., Terraform), ideally in a multi-cloud environment
• Strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash) are an advantage
• Several years of professional experience as a Platform or DevOps Engineer

Responsibilities

• Build and operate containers in Azure Kubernetes Service to ensure the functionality of Union Investment's cloud applications
• Utilize Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and Terragrunt for infrastructure provisioning and configuration, ideally in a multi-cloud environment
• Implement, operate, and improve CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD for efficient and automated software delivery
• Collaborate closely with architects and application owners for application development, deployment, and operation; expand target architectures for IaC, Kubernetes, and other Azure infrastructure (APIM, Monitoring-Stack)
• Collaborate closely with Machine Learning Engineers and Data Scientists in developing AI use cases and AI agents
• Monitor and handle incidents in the platform's cloud infrastructure
• Mentor and support engineers in DevOps Best Practices
