Senior Platform Engineer

Job summary

The Senior Platform Engineer at BMO Financial Group will be responsible for the operations, stability, security, and scalability of enterprise data platforms, providing production support, developing platform strategies, and implementing innovative solutions to enhance data management and protection.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience supporting Data Management platforms.
• Strong hands-on experience with SQL, Python, and Spark.
• Expertise in data modeling, database design, and ETL/ELT processes.
• Experience with SSIS, AWS Glue, and cloud computing services.
• Experience deploying and supporting enterprise data solutions in cloud environments.
• Experience working within Agile delivery teams using Jira.
• Strong understanding of system design and API management.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated learning agility and innovation mindset.

Responsibilities

• Own operations, stability, security, scalability, and support of enterprise data platforms.
• Provide production support and ensure platform availability, performance, and reliability.
• Monitor platform health, adoption metrics, and operational KPIs for continuous improvement.
• Support cloud modernization and data migration initiatives.
• Develop and execute platform strategies, roadmaps, and enhancement plans.
• Design and implement innovative solutions to improve data management and protection.
• Document functional and technical requirements and workflows.
• Analyze platform and usage data for optimization opportunities.
• Manage APIs and integration components focusing on security and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and implement sustainable solutions.
• Provide technical leadership on strategic platform initiatives.
