Senior Platform Engineer (DevOps)

Job summary

This senior Azure engineering role combines complex production incident response with planned cloud engineering across customer environments and AI product platforms. The engineer will troubleshoot Azure infrastructure and application services, build and maintain environments with Terraform, improve CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions, and implement monitoring, networking, identity, and access controls. The work also includes root-cause analysis, automation, technical guidance, and participation in an on-call rota.

• Hands-on Azure experience across IaaS and PaaS, including diagnosing complex production faults.
• Understanding of interactions between compute, networking, DNS, identity, and storage.
• Experience with Azure application services such as App Service, Container Apps, Functions, or API Management.
• Experience writing and maintaining Terraform, including modules, state management, and safe changes to existing environments.
• Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Experience with Git branches, pull requests, and code review.
• Ability to write automation in PowerShell, Python, or another scripting language.
• Clear communication with customers and colleagues, sound incident judgement, and ability to deliver agreed work independently.

Responsibilities

• Act as a senior escalation point for complex, high-impact Azure incidents.
• Troubleshoot compute, networking, DNS, identity, storage, application services, and dependencies.
• Investigate faults, restore service, communicate findings, and drive incidents through root-cause analysis.
• Improve configuration, monitoring, automation, and operational guidance based on incident findings.
• Build and maintain Azure environments and reusable Terraform modules; manage state and remediate drift.
• Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.
• Build and operate Azure environments for AI products and customer deployments.
• Implement networking, identity, secrets management, and access controls.
• Improve monitoring and visibility into service performance and AI consumption.
• Automate recurring tasks, document solutions, and support developers with production issues.
• Participate in technical reviews, mentoring, and an on-call rota.
