Senior Platform Engineer

Job summary

Build and operate an internal developer platform centered on a Backstage portal and service catalog, enabling teams to create production-ready services and follow a reliable path from code commit to production. The role also advances Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure, CI/CD automation, policy enforcement, and secure AI-agent workflows in a regulated financial-services environment using technologies such as Argo CD, Helm, Kustomize, Azure DevOps, Terraform, and MCP servers.

Qualifications

• At least 8 to 10 years of experience in platform, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering, with hands-on production software development experience.
• Hands-on Backstage experience or experience building an equivalent internal developer portal.
• Experience with Kubernetes, GitOps using Argo CD or Flux, and Terraform on a major cloud platform.
• Experience with CI/CD, pipeline templates, environment promotion, and safe rollouts and rollbacks.
• Regular use of AI coding tools and a considered perspective on their role in software development workflows.
• Working knowledge of observability, including traces, metrics, logs, and SLOs.
• Ability to lead initiatives and build solutions from scratch with minimal direction.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain an internal developer platform with a Backstage portal, service catalog, and software templates.
• Define and maintain the delivery path from code commit to production, including pipelines, environment promotion, and progressive delivery.
• Integrate quality gates, security scanning, and policy checks into platform templates and pipelines.
• Establish safe, traceable, and reviewable workflows for AI agents and assistants in the software development lifecycle.
• Build agent-facing interfaces, such as MCP servers, to provide controlled access to platform services.
• Evolve cloud and Kubernetes infrastructure and expand self-service provisioning with guardrails.
• Reduce developer toil by improving local development, preview environments, test feedback, and pipeline duration.
• Gather developer feedback, document platform capabilities, drive adoption, and maintain tested, versioned platform code.
