Job summary
Own and improve platform infrastructure while delivering senior-level backend and cross-stack engineering for production applications. Build and maintain services, APIs, and background workflows; strengthen deployment, CI/CD, monitoring, and incident response; and support SOC 2 Type II controls. The role focuses on scalability, reliability, performance, and security across AWS, Cloudflare, Redis, and MongoDB.

Qualifications
- At least 5 years of engineering experience, including at least 4 years in a Platform Engineer role.
- Expertise managing and optimizing AWS infrastructure.
- Experience configuring, monitoring, optimizing, and backing up Redis and MongoDB.
- Expertise with OpenTofu and Terragrunt.
- Experience with deployment and release management and CI/CD processes and tools.
- Hands-on experience securing production infrastructure, including access controls, vulnerability remediation, secrets management, and security monitoring.
- Ability to translate security and compliance requirements into repeatable engineering practices and support SOC 2 Type II audits.
- Senior-level backend experience independently designing, shipping, and maintaining production features and services.
- Strong Node.js and JavaScript or TypeScript proficiency, including API development, asynchronous programming, testing, and production debugging.
- Experience designing application data models and reliable background jobs with safe retries, idempotency, and failure recovery.
- Ability to work across backend and frontend boundaries and communicate designs and tradeoffs clearly.
- Previous experience working remotely.
Responsibilities
- Manage infrastructure across AWS and Cloudflare.
- Design, build, test, and maintain backend services, APIs, and background processing workflows.
- Own complex product engineering changes from requirements and design through implementation, production validation, and ongoing operation.
- Contribute frontend changes as needed to deliver complete customer-facing solutions.
- Improve application performance and reliability, including database queries, queues, and search behavior.
- Maintain Redis and MongoDB configuration, monitoring, performance, and backups.
- Improve deployment and release processes through automation, safe rollouts, and reliable rollback procedures.
- Strengthen the SDLC, development environments, CI/CD, automated quality and security checks, and release readiness.
- Operate and improve security controls and SOC 2 Type II audit readiness, including access, vulnerability, change, logging, and backup controls.
- Lead incident response and blameless post-incident reviews.
- Monitor uptime and performance using tools such as Datadog, ClickHouse, and HyperDX.
- Optimize infrastructure for cost, reliability, and scalability; document infrastructure and dependencies.
- Improve developer experience and mentor teammates in backend design, debugging, and operationally sound engineering.
