Job summary

Thales is establishing a new German entity in partnership with Google Cloud to provide a locally and autonomously operated 'Trusted Cloud' that meets strict BSI requirements and European jurisdiction. This Senior Platform Engineer role focuses on operating and developing highly available sovereign GCP services, ensuring stability, scalability, and performance. The position involves monitoring SLI/SLO metrics, analyzing and resolving production issues, and collaborating with global SRE and GCP expert teams.

Qualifications

• Completed degree in computer science, engineering, or a comparable master's degree
• Several years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and automation of operations and incident management processes
• Knowledge of regulated industries with high compliance requirements (e.g., banking, insurance, healthcare)
• Experience in international work environments and very good German and English language skills
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and high willingness to learn and enthusiasm for modern cloud technologies

Responsibilities

• Operate and develop highly available sovereign GCP services with focus on stability, scalability, and performance
• Monitor SLI/SLO metrics, analyze and resolve production issues in 24x7 operations, including on-call duty
• Collaborate with global SRE and GCP expert teams for incident analysis, troubleshooting, and service optimization
• Document operational knowledge, standardize processes, and develop automation and operational playbooks
• Conduct post-mortem analyses after incidents to identify improvement potential and promote continuous optimization
