Senior Platform Engineer (m/w/d)

Job summary

Responsible for the operation and development of a cloud-native platform for the Bundeswehr's crisis preparedness information system, focusing on automation, security, and collaboration in agile DevOps projects.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience in the DevOps environment
• Very good knowledge of scripting languages (preferably Python) and Shell (Bash, PowerShell) for automation
• Very good knowledge of agile development teams (Git workflows, code review)
• Experience in network/virtualization (Layer 2+3, VMware) and administration of Windows and Linux servers or in container/orchestration (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes), observability, and CI/CD toolchain (GitLab, ArgoCD, Nexus, Harbor, SonarQube)
• Basic knowledge of server hardening according to IT baseline protection
• Fluent in German and good technical English
• Experience with ArcGIS products from Esri is a plus

Responsibilities

• Platform operation (On-Prem Cloud-Native)
• Development of a cloud-native platform for the Bundeswehr's crisis preparedness information system
• Integration into the BWI system landscape
• Planning, implementation, and maintenance of SDN-based network and virtualization infrastructure (Infrastructure-as-Code)
• Development of automation and maintenance scripts
• Evaluation, procurement, and provision of development tools for CI/CD pipelines
• Securing the development platform according to IT baseline protection and creating information security concepts
• Support of agile DevOps projects (Secure Software Supply Chain)
• Collaboration in cross-functional teams with Bundeswehr, BWI, and civilian partners
