Job summary
Monstro is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join their Platform Engineering team. This role involves shaping how software is built, deployed, and operated, focusing on enablement and governance. The engineer will own GCP infrastructure, build scalable environments, and ensure security and compliance with standards like NIST and SOC-2.

Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure roles
- Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Azure
- Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools, particularly Terraform
- Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Cloud Build, or similar)
- Solid understanding of security principles and experience implementing security controls in cloud environments
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (NIST, SOC-2) and implementing controls to meet audit requirements
- Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, or similar)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with engineering teams
- Experience in Fintech or other regulated industries (Nice to Have)
- Knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration (Nice to Have)
- Experience with API management platforms (e.g., Apigee) (Nice to Have)
- Background in observability tools (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar) (Nice to Have)
- Relevant certifications (GCP Professional, CISSP, etc.) (Nice to Have)
- Experience with NIST compliance frameworks (CSF, 800-53) including access controls, continuous monitoring, and risk management (Nice to Have)
- Experience supporting SOC-2 compliance by implementing controls for security, availability, and confidentiality, along with auditable change management processes (Nice to Have)
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain GCP infrastructure, creating consistent, repeatable environments
- Design and implement CI/CD pipeline standards for confident and frequent deployments
- Develop internal tooling, templates, and automation to reduce friction for engineers
- Create and maintain infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) for reproducible and auditable environments
- Provide support and guidance to engineering teams on platform best practices
- Continuously improve developer experience by identifying and eliminating bottlenecks
- Implement and maintain security controls across GCP environment (IAM, VPC configuration, secrets management, encryption)
- Maintain comprehensive documentation and evidence for internal and external audits
- Conduct security reviews and remediate vulnerabilities with teams
- Build observability and logging infrastructure meeting compliance retention and integrity requirements
- Collaborate with Platform Engineering and Engineering teams to understand needs and deliver solutions
- Partner with Staff Platform Engineer on architecture decisions and platform strategy
- Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and postmortems
- Contribute to architectural decisions and establish engineering standards
- Mentor team members and share knowledge across the organization
