Senior Platform Engineer

Job summary

Nearmap is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to lead the transition to platform-as-a-product, focusing on building self-service tools and reusable components for engineering teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in platform or infrastructure engineering
• 3+ years' experience with public cloud infrastructure, AWS preferred
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Strong experience with Linux infrastructure and cloud native workloads
• Extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
• Experience designing CI/CD and monitoring tools
• Experience with observability tools in Kubernetes
• Scripting and deployment automation experience
• Experience in a highly available production environment

Responsibilities

• Gather requirements and triage platform requests
• Build self-service capabilities and reusable platform components
• Design, build, and maintain platform tooling and automation
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, builds, tests, and releases
• Write and deploy Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
• Maintain high availability of infrastructure and platform services
• Implement security controls as code
• Educate engineering teams on platform engineering practices
• Participate in design reviews and architecture decisions
