Senior Platform Engineer

Job summary

The Senior Platform Engineer role is pivotal in establishing a robust platform engineering function, focusing on rearchitecting cloud infrastructure on AWS and Azure, implementing a comprehensive SRE practice, and developing an Internal Developer Platform. Responsibilities include migrating infrastructure to OpenTofu/Terraform, designing observability stacks with Prometheus and Grafana, and managing Kubernetes operations for EKS and AKS clusters.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in platform, infrastructure, or DevOps engineering
• Proficiency in OpenTofu/Terraform
• Strong Kubernetes operations experience
• Hands-on observability experience with Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog
• CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions
• Experience with GitOps tools like ArgoCD or Flux
• Experience with developer portals like Backstage
• Security-first mindset with IaC scanning and secrets management

Responsibilities

• Migrate AWS and Azure infrastructure to OpenTofu/Terraform and Ansible
• Audit cloud estate against AWS and Azure Well-Architected Frameworks
• Implement policy-as-code for security and compliance
• Design and implement observability stack with metrics and logs
• Define SLIs and SLOs for platform services
• Establish SRE practice with incident management
• Deploy and operate developer portal for service catalog
• Build golden paths for developer workflows
• Own CI/CD platform layer and pipeline templates
• Build self-service provisioning layer for developers
• Support migration of existing workloads onto the platform
• Write technical documentation and architecture records
• Mentor junior platform engineers
