Job summary
As a Senior Platform Engineer at vCluster Labs, you will be crucial to enabling engineering velocity by building internal platforms and acting as "Customer Zero" for their products. You will manage multi-cloud infrastructure, optimize CI/CD pipelines, and architect internal services, providing critical feedback to product teams. Qualifications
- 5+ years of Platform Engineering or DevOps experience with modern, cloud-native technologies
- Expert in HCL and Terraform Modules
- Deep experience administering Kubernetes clusters
- Extensive experience with GitHub Pipelines
- Ability to optimize GitHub Pipelines for speed and security
- Hands-on experience managing and deploying in public clouds, specifically AWS or GCP
- Thrive in environments that reject legacy technology
- Desire to work with a modern stack and solve a variety of problems
- Experience writing automation scripts with Bash or Python (bonus)
- Proficiency in Go or Python (bonus)
- Relevant Kubernetes certifications such as CKA or experience writing Kubernetes Operators (bonus)
- Basic experience writing technical documentation and willingness to build AI Automation in documentation (bonus)
- Familiarity with Linear for task management (bonus)
Responsibilities
- Own and improve multi-cloud infrastructure across AWS, GCP, and Digital Ocean
- Manage Kubernetes clusters
- Handle patching
- Manage access
- Enhance tooling with robust alerts and metrics
- Drive improvement of GitHub CI pipelines
- Create secure, repeatable testing environments
- Automate pipeline updates to streamline developer experience
- Architect and host infrastructure for engineering development, including internal services and vCluster-specific platforms
- Empower engineers to build pipelines securely through education and tooling
- Act as the first and most critical user of products
- Push vCluster features to their limits to create useful internal tools
- Discover bugs and provide feedback to Engineering to shape future software
- Automate updates and manage infrastructure as code using Terraform Spacelift
- Enable the team to create infrastructure on demand, ensuring scalability and consistency
- Manage Kanban tasks via Linear, including improving observability, handling GitHub policy requests, release engineering, and access management
