Senior Platform Engineer

Job summary

Wayve is seeking a Platform Engineer to own and evolve the cloud infrastructure and developer tooling that underpins the entire Portal engineering team. This role involves working across cloud infrastructure, RBAC/IAM, CI/CD, and Kubernetes to improve developer productivity and enable the commercial deployment of Wayve's autonomy stack.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on cloud infrastructure experience, ideally Azure, with production Terraform/IaC experience.
• Strong RBAC/IAM knowledge at cloud/infrastructure level; experience with application/product-level IAM or multi-tenancy is highly valuable.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Security and networking fundamentals; hands-on builder.
• Experience as part of a support or on-call rotation.
• Strong communicator who can coach and guide application developers.
• Product mindset; thinks about developer experience and builds tools that improve team work.
• High autonomy and ownership; takes responsibility for outcomes in a fast-moving team.
• Experience working with multiple cloud providers or cross-cloud IAM across Azure, AWS, and/or GCP (nice to have).
• Background in developer experience (DX) or internal tooling (nice to have).
• Experience in a startup or high-growth engineering environment (nice to have).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and developer tooling (primarily Azure) using IaC (Terraform) across development, staging, and production environments.
• Own and evolve RBAC/IAM across cloud/infrastructure and application/product layers for a multi-tenant Portal environment.
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines to increase developer velocity, reliability, and deployment safety.
• Support and improve Kubernetes-based deployment workflows and platform services.
• Build internal tools and observability capabilities to help engineers deliver performant, reliable software at scale.
• Participate in a support/on-call rotation; respond to incidents, support engineers, and contribute to root cause analysis.
• Apply practical security and networking knowledge to harden the platform and coach application developers on best practices.
