Job summary
The Senior Site Reliability Engineer builds and operates the infrastructure platform supporting robotics software development and releases. The role scales Kubernetes across bare metal, virtual machines, and public cloud; develops CI/CD, GitOps, observability, and disaster recovery systems; and improves reliability through production debugging and root-cause fixes. The platform uses tools including Terraform, Helm, Ansible, Go, and Python.
Qualifications
- Deep knowledge of Linux internals, networking, file systems, process and resource management, and performance tuning.
- Experience building, upgrading, and troubleshooting production Kubernetes clusters.
- Hands-on shell debugging using tools such as strace, tcpdump, ss, and perf.
- Experience with Terraform, Ansible, Helm, and Argo CD.
- Ability to build tools and services in Go or Python.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, load balancing, VLANs, and BGP.
- Experience defining observability measures, alerts, and SLOs.
- At least five years of relevant Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or Infrastructure Engineering experience focused on hybrid cloud environments.
- A record of building infrastructure from scratch and operating it reliably in production.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred experience with bare-metal and virtualized infrastructure, SAN or NAS storage, and public cloud.
- Preferred experience operating CI/CD and build infrastructure at scale.
- Preferred experience with immutable, API-managed Kubernetes node operating systems and eBPF networking.
- Preferred experience operating replicated and cached container registries across sites.
- Preferred experience planning disaster recovery and conducting recovery drills.
- Preferred experience supporting x86_64 and ARM infrastructure.
- Preferred experience with robotics, embedded systems, or IoT fleet infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Manage and scale Kubernetes across bare metal, virtual machines, and public cloud, including provisioning, networking, storage, and upgrades.
- Build CI/CD infrastructure, including build runners, remote build execution and caching, container registries, and autoscaling.
- Design backups, multi-site recovery, and disaster recovery drills.
- Implement GitOps delivery, progressive rollouts, and automatic rollback based on health checks.
- Define platform SLIs and SLOs and build monitoring and alerting systems.
- Debug production issues across Kubernetes, Linux, networking, and storage; resolve root causes.
- Manage infrastructure as code and build Go or Python tools to reduce manual work.
- Implement single sign-on, role-based access, certificate and secret management, and patched operating systems.
- Partner with robotics software teams on architecture and production readiness.
- Plan infrastructure capacity and cost across on-premises and cloud environments.
