Job summary
The Senior Site Reliability Engineer designs, implements, and maintains a service mesh and its underlying network stack to improve the reliability, performance, security, scalability, and availability of cloud platform services. The role spans internal networking, partner connectivity, secrets management, and service discovery, with responsibilities including monitoring, incident response, automation, and support for engineering teams. The technology environment includes AWS, Go or Python, Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, Istio, Terraform, Vault, and Consul.

Qualifications
- Professional experience as an SRE or DevOps engineer.
- Production experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Knowledge of Go and/or Python.
- Broad understanding of Linux systems and networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, and TLS.
- Experience with container virtualization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes, and service mesh implementations such as Istio.
- Knowledge of Git, CI/CD, Terraform, Vault, Consul, Salt, or Ansible.
- Proactive approach and ability to work autonomously.
- VPN knowledge or implementation experience is a bonus.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement systems and services across service mesh, internal networking, partner connectivity, secrets management, and service discovery.
- Own the service mesh and underlying network stack, ensuring performance and reliability.
- Create monitors and alerts, diagnose issues, and resolve service mesh incidents.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to support delivery of critical features.
- Identify and automate repetitive tasks.
- Monitor system health and participate in an on-call rotation.
- Lead technical projects and discussions, mentor engineers, and improve the team tool landscape.
- Track incident learnings and follow-up actions, and raise architectural and technical debt.
