Job summary

The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) role focuses on applying engineering principles to enhance the reliability, scalability, and performance of cloud infrastructure services. Key responsibilities include automating processes, monitoring system performance, responding to incidents, and implementing observability practices using tools like Prometheus and Grafana, while adhering to SRE principles to improve operational workflows.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, DevOps Engineer, Operations Engineer or similar role
• Coding skills in programming/scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell or Bash
• Understanding of Linux/Unix & Windows systems, networking, and distributed systems
• Experience with observability tools and alerting systems
• Understanding of infrastructure automation tools
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Problem solving skills and ability to respond to unexpected demands

Responsibilities

• Ensure services are stable, scalable, performant and automated
• Respond to incidents, troubleshooting issues, and restoring services as quickly as possible
• Prioritise operational service improvements to meet or increase SLO, minimising downtime
• Ensure effective monitoring/alerting is in place to proactively identify issues
• Leverage automation to streamline tasks and improve efficiency
• Optimise system performance and identify bottlenecks
• Ensure systems can handle current and future workloads through automation
• Continuously improve services through observability practices
• Guide and educate stakeholders on SRE principles
• Provide technical documentation and training for engineers
• Collaborate with engineering and technology teams to improve operational processes
