Job summary

The Senior Staff AI Infrastructure Engineer will lead the technical infrastructure strategy for the AI Accelerator, ensuring the necessary compute, storage, and platform infrastructure for training and serving biomedical foundation models at scale. Key responsibilities include defining a multi-layer reference architecture, setting the technical direction for AI infrastructure, and collaborating with Data Excellence and IT to support secure AI workloads on sensitive data.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a senior staff-level infrastructure, platform or systems engineer for compute-intensive workloads
• Deep expertise across the AI compute infrastructure stack
• Significant experience with hybrid on-prem/cloud architectures
• Understanding of security, access control, resilience/continuity and systems-operation rigour

Responsibilities

• Own, define and evolve a wholistic, multi-layer reference architecture spanning storage, compute, environments and platform stack
• Set the technical direction, strategy and roadmap for AI infrastructure
• Partner with Data Excellence to further development of Trusted Research Environment (TRE)
• Shape the evolution of existing enterprise infrastructure to support large-scale AI
• Establish ways of working, onboard and mentor other team members
