Senior/Staff DevOps Engineer

Job summary

The Senior/Staff DevOps Engineer sets infrastructure direction and owns reliability, cost, performance, security, and developer experience for a mental healthcare platform. The role operates AWS and Kubernetes (EKS), maintains Terraform and AWS CDK infrastructure as code and GitLab CI/CD, builds observability, and secures PHI and secrets with Vault. It also drives blue-green deployments and zero-downtime PostgreSQL migrations, partners with product teams, and integrates agentic AI output into production.

Qualifications

• At least 6 years of DevOps or infrastructure engineering experience.
• Strong systems fundamentals and Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
• Hands-on AWS experience, including EC2, EKS, RDS, ElastiCache, Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, API Gateway, ALB, and S3.
• Production Kubernetes/EKS experience, including cluster management, node scaling, and policy enforcement; Karpenter and Kyverno or similar experience.
• Strong Terraform and AWS CDK in TypeScript experience.
• GitLab CI/CD ownership, including reusable templates, OIDC id_tokens, and self-managed GitLab.
• Practical observability experience with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, OpenSearch, CloudWatch, log shipping, and error tracking or APM.
• Security engineering experience with secrets rotation, short-lived credentials, leak scanning, PHI-aware logging, and HashiCorp Vault.
• Experience with blue-green deployments, automated health-gated rollbacks, and zero-downtime PostgreSQL schema migrations.
• Experience with Docker, ECR, immutable image tags, and image lifecycle management.
• Knowledge of load balancing, TLS, and DNS.
• Hands-on agentic AI workflow experience, such as Claude Code, including delegating tasks and integrating agent output into production.
• Developer-focused mindset and strong technical writing, including docs-as-code, ADRs, and design documents via merge requests.
• Fluent Russian and English (B1).
• Experience working effectively in remote, distributed teams.
• Experience in a regulated or compliance-heavy environment, such as HIPAA or SOC 2, is a plus.
• Ansible, Node.js operations, GitOps tooling, deeper PostgreSQL administration, and AWS certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set the infrastructure technical vision and quarterly roadmap with measurable goals.
• Operate and evolve AWS and Kubernetes (EKS), including autoscaling, policy enforcement, and zero-downtime operations.
• Own infrastructure as code using Terraform and AWS CDK in TypeScript, and manage GitLab CI/CD.
• Build and maintain observability, log pipelines, and application performance monitoring.
• Maintain blue-green deployments, health-gated rollbacks, and zero-downtime PostgreSQL migrations with CI gating.
• Own security practices for secrets, PHI-aware data and logging, and Vault managed as code.
• Partner with product teams to reduce infrastructure friction and improve developer experience.
• Use agentic AI workflows and integrate autonomous-agent output into production.
