Senior Staff Platform Engineer - Core

Job summary

The Senior Staff Platform Engineer leads technical direction and delivery of platform capabilities that help engineering teams deploy and operate critical cloud-native services. The role owns complex, multi-quarter initiatives across AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes, CI/CD, observability, and developer tooling, while improving reliability through incident response and operational practices. It also includes cross-team technical leadership, mentoring, and setting engineering standards.

Qualifications

• Experience leading complex, cross-team, multi-quarter initiatives.
• Ability to break complex work into milestones and deliver predictably using agile practices.
• Strong software engineering background, including backend development and distributed systems.
• Deep knowledge of AWS and cloud-native architectures.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform or CloudFormation, and automation.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and developer tooling.
• Production expertise with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
• Knowledge of logging, metrics, and tracing, with experience improving system visibility and reliability.
• Experience with incident management and operational practices for large-scale systems.
• Proficiency in Go or Python.
• Ability to collaborate across teams, communicate complex topics clearly, and influence engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of platform capabilities across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, observability, CI/CD, and developer tooling.
• Execute complex, multi-quarter initiatives from architecture through deployment and refinement.
• Partner with engineering teams to improve service reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Contribute to incident response and improve system availability and stability.
• Promote best practices in software delivery, infrastructure management, and operations.
• Mentor engineers and help set technical direction for the team.
