Senior Staff Platform Engineer - Core

Job summary

Leads technical direction and delivery of platform capabilities that enable engineering teams to deploy and operate critical services across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, CI/CD, observability, and developer tooling. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution of complex, multi-quarter initiatives, reliability improvements, incident response, and engineering mentorship. The platform environment uses AWS, Terraform or CloudFormation, and production Kubernetes, with Go or Python for software development.

Qualifications

• Experience leading complex, cross-team, multi-quarter initiatives
• Ability to break complex work into milestones and deliver predictably using agile practices
• Strong software engineering background in backend development and distributed systems
• Deep understanding of AWS and cloud-native architectures
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform or CloudFormation, and automation
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and developer productivity tooling
• Deep expertise with Kubernetes and production container orchestration
• Knowledge of logging, metrics, and tracing, with experience improving system visibility and reliability
• Experience with incident management and operational practices for large-scale systems
• Proficiency in Go or Python
• Ability to collaborate across teams, communicate complex topics, and influence engineering practices

Responsibilities

• Lead technical design and delivery of platform capabilities across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, observability, CI/CD, and developer tooling
• Own complex, multi-quarter initiatives from architecture and design through deployment and ongoing refinement
• Partner with engineering teams to improve service reliability, scalability, and performance in cloud-native environments
• Contribute to incident response and improve system availability and stability
• Promote best practices in software delivery, infrastructure management, and operational excellence
• Mentor engineers and help shape the team's technical direction and culture
