Senior System Engineer/DevOps

Job summary

The System Engineer / DevOps Engineer designs, builds, tests, and maintains medium- to large-scale infrastructure for real-time, high-frequency, low-latency financial market data systems. The role covers Linux and Windows engineering, virtualization, automation, application integration, system upgrades, and troubleshooting, while providing technical guidance to project teams. Key technologies include RHEL, Windows Server, VMware vSphere, Solace PubSub+, and HPE Synergy.

Qualifications

• At least five years of enterprise experience as a Linux, Windows, VMware, and Solace systems engineer or equivalent DevOps engineer.
• Experience maintaining the health of IT lab test environments.
• Expert knowledge of RHEL 7.x and 8.0, Windows Server, VMware vSphere 6.x and 7.0, and Solace PubSub+.
• Knowledge of Windows- and Linux-based hardware platforms, including IBM, HPE, and Dell.
• Strong understanding of RAID storage and TCP/IP networking.
• Experience with OS deployment, orchestration, automation pipelines, scripts, and change processes.
• Experience with HPE enterprise hardware, SAN, VMware ESXi and vCenter, AWS EC2, containers, CloudWatch, Kubernetes, Route 53, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience designing and administering Active Directory.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with limited daily supervision and communicate effectively with senior organizational stakeholders.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• English proficiency at B2 level.

Responsibilities

• Analyze project requirements and recommend designs for complex systems.
• Define project scope with project teams and align systems with long-term IT strategy.
• Develop application enhancements, integrations, and interfaces.
• Modify existing software to meet specifications and architecture standards.
• Develop, unit-test, and implement cross-functional software systems.
• Research emerging technologies.
• Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to development teams.
• Perform and test firmware and operating system upgrades, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate hardware upgrades or replacements.
