Senior System Engineer/DevOps

Job summary

A Senior System Engineer / DevOps Engineer designs, builds, tests, and maintains medium- to large-scale infrastructure supporting real-time, high-frequency financial market data systems. The role combines Linux and Windows systems engineering with automation, virtualization, software integration, and test-environment administration, while also handling firmware and OS upgrades, troubleshooting, and technical guidance. Relevant technologies include RHEL, Windows Server, VMware vSphere, Solace PubSub+, and HPE Synergy.

Qualifications

• At least five years of enterprise experience as a Linux, Windows, VMware, and Solace systems engineer or in an equivalent DevOps role.
• Experience maintaining the health of IT lab test environments.
• Expert knowledge of RHEL 7.x and 8.0, Windows Server 2008–2019, VMware vSphere 6.x and 7.0, and Solace PubSub+.
• Knowledge of Windows and Linux hardware platforms, including IBM, HP, or Dell systems.
• Thorough understanding of RAID storage and TCP/IP networking.
• Experience with operating system deployment, orchestration tools, automation pipelines, scripts, and change processes.
• Experience with Active Directory design and administration.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with little daily supervision.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

• Analyze project requirements and recommend designs for complex systems.
• Define project scope with project teams and align system designs with long-term IT strategy.
• Develop application and custom integration solutions, including enhancements and interfaces.
• Modify existing applications to meet specifications and industry standards.
• Develop and unit-test cross-functional software systems using disciplined development processes.
• Research emerging technologies and provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring.
• Test firmware and operating system upgrades, troubleshoot system issues, and coordinate hardware replacements or upgrades, including HPE Synergy platforms.
