Job summary
The Senior Systems Administrator manages, optimizes, and secures cloud infrastructure across multiple platforms. This role involves deploying, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining cloud-based systems and services, focusing on high availability, security, and performance. Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Cloud certification preferred (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, or Google Cloud Professional)
- Linux certification preferred (RHCE, LPIC)
- Microsoft certification preferred (MCSA/MCSE)
- 6+ years of system administration experience, including 3 years in cloud environments
- Proficiency with major cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure Government)
- Strong Linux and Windows server administration skills
- Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Knowledge of networking concepts including VPCs, subnets, load balancers, and DNS
- Scripting experience in Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar languages
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities
- Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to work in fast-paced environments and manage multiple priorities
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence
- Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of Snowflake cloud-based data warehousing platform
- Familiarity with logging and monitoring tools (ELK stack, Splunk, Datadog)
- Background in cybersecurity and compliance frameworks (NIST SP 800-171, CMMC 2.0, NIST SP 800-53, RMF)
Responsibilities
- Manage, optimize, and secure cloud infrastructure across multiple platforms
- Deploy, configure, monitor, and maintain cloud-based systems and services
- Ensure high availability, security, and performance of the cloud environment
- Deploy, configure, and maintain cloud infrastructure across Azure Cloud Platforms
- Manage virtual machines, containers, storage systems, and networking components in cloud environments
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates
- Monitor cloud resource utilization and optimize costs through rightsizing and resource management
- Ensure compliance with cloud security best practices and organizational policies
- Provide backup Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution
- Administer Linux and Windows servers in hybrid environments
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, or Bash
- Implement configuration management using Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
- Manage backup and disaster recovery solutions for cloud-based systems
- Perform system updates, patches, and security hardening procedures
- Implement comprehensive monitoring solutions using CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, or similar tools
- Configure alerting and notification systems for proactive issue identification
- Analyze system performance metrics and implement optimization strategies
- Troubleshoot complex system issues and coordinate resolution efforts
- Maintain system documentation and runbooks for operational procedures
- Implement and maintain cloud security policies and access controls
