Server Administrator / DevOps Engineer

Job summary

Rent Guarantor is seeking a Server Administrator / DevOps Engineer to own and evolve its infrastructure. This role involves maintaining the current Joomla-based platform, leading the migration to cloud hosting, and building a scalable environment to support future AI and data initiatives. This is a hands-on and strategic role, collaborating with product, engineering, and data science teams.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a DevOps, Site Reliability, or Server Administration role
• Strong experience with Linux-based systems and web server management (e.g., Apache, Nginx)
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes is a plus)
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub)
• Strong understanding of networking, security, and system monitoring
• Experience with scripting (e.g., Bash, Python)
• Knowledge of database management (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL)
• Experience managing hosting for CMS platforms such as Joomla (or similar PHP-based systems)
• Experience supporting data science or machine learning teams
• Familiarity with MLOps practices and tools
• Experience with data pipelines and large-scale data processing
• Exposure to serverless architectures and microservices
• Knowledge of observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)

Responsibilities

• Maintain and optimize current hosting environment for the Joomla-based web application
• Plan and execute migration from paid hosting to a cloud platform (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Design and manage scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructure
• Implement CI/CD pipelines to support faster and safer deployments
• Monitor system performance, uptime, and security, and respond to incidents
• Manage backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning
• Support the setup and scaling of environments for AI/ML workloads (e.g., data pipelines, model deployment infrastructure)
• Collaborate with developers to improve deployment processes and system reliability
• Ensure compliance with data protection and security standards (e.g., GDPR)
• Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
