BAE Systems is seeking a highly skilled Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join their team. The SRE will be responsible for bridging the gap between software development and systems operations, ensuring critical infrastructure is scalable, reliable, and efficient. This role involves applying a software engineering approach to operational challenges, focusing on automation, observability, and reducing operational toil.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
  • At least 10 years of experience as an SRE
  • Strong professional experience in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Go, Java)
  • Advanced knowledge of Linux/Unix internals, including networking (TCP/IP, DNS) and security hardening
  • Practical experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions)
  • Possess a TS/SCI clearance and appropriate polygraph
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field
  • Experience developing applications to support quantitative analysis
  • Experience integrating complex and/or experimental algorithms into established applications
  • Working knowledge of applied cryptography
  • Experience with Docker and Java
  • HPC software development experience
  • Experience integrating AI agents into development workflows
  • Exposure to QPU and GPU HPC architectures
