Job summary

BAE Systems Digital Intelligence is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join their growing team in Gloucester. This role involves using software and systems engineering expertise to automate operations, reduce manual labor, and enhance the availability, performance, and stability of essential services. The SRE will work with product teams, advise on best practices, and contribute to the wider DevOps/SRE community.

Qualifications

• Experience in software development using Java, JavaScript, and HTML
• Familiarity with database technologies such as Elastic and Mongo
• Proficiency with Linux and Windows command lines (Bash, PowerShell)
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure like AWS, Azure, or OpenStack
• Experience with deployment tools such as Chef and Puppet
• Expertise in monitoring large systems using technologies like ELK
• Experience working in an Agile scrum team and using tools like Jira
• Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting application issues leading to service outages
• Troubleshooting skills across different levels of the stack
• Understanding of ITIL terminology
• Experience with container management and micro-services architectures like Docker
• Experience extending and improving Open Source Software
• Familiarity with automation test frameworks such as Selenium
• Awareness and insight into technology trends for adopting new tools
