Job summary
The Site Reliability Engineer administers enterprise-scale VMware vSphere systems across a corporate data centre and cloud services, improving reliability, performance, scalability, and fault tolerance throughout the IT lifecycle. The role analyses platform performance, develops automation for deployments and operational issues, coordinates production changes, manages cybersecurity risks, and works with vendors and IT teams to resolve complex problems. It also involves maintaining technical documentation and regulatory records.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience administering large-scale VMware vSphere systems
- Experience maintaining and operating enterprise-scale VMware vSphere virtualisation platforms
- Experience developing and maintaining automated deployment solutions
- Experience engineering automation to resolve operational issues
- Ability to manage stakeholders and work in a matrix-oriented environment
- Commitment to public education and implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG
Responsibilities
- Manage VMware vSphere systems across the data centre throughout the IT lifecycle
- Analyse performance data and identify trends and issues
- Collaborate with vendors and IT teams to test and resolve complex problems
- Coordinate deployment of fixes and changes into production
- Manage cybersecurity risks associated with data centre lockdowns and upgrades
- Develop configurations, roadmaps, and technical diagrams
- Recommend process improvements
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with regulatory requirements
