Job summary
eleQtron is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to ensure the reliability, scalability, and stable operation of software systems controlling their trapped-ion based quantum computers. This role involves collaborating with various engineering and scientific teams to gain deep insights into a cutting-edge technological field.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a comparable field, or equivalent qualification
- 2-4 years of professional experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Systems Engineering
- Experience operating and stabilizing complex systems in production or laboratory environments
- Practical experience with containerized and orchestrated environments
- Profound knowledge of monitoring, alerting, and observability tools
- Experience participating in incident response processes
- Good technical documentation skills
- Ability to evaluate technical decisions and trade-offs thoroughly
- Very good English language skills, both written and spoken
- Experience with hardware-near, laboratory, or cyber-physical systems (preferred)
- Experience in scientific, research, or experimental environments (preferred)
- Profound Python knowledge for automation and tooling (preferred)
- Experience with long-running, stateful workloads (preferred)
- Understanding of firmware, control systems, or real-time requirements (preferred)
- Experience with programmatic device control (e.g., via SCPI, serial interfaces, USB, or TCP/IP) (preferred)
- Initial contact with quantum computing or other deep-tech technologies (advantageous)
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the reliability of the Quantum Control and Quantum Program Execution Stacks
- Support the definition and development of SLIs, SLOs, Error Budgets, and operational guardrails
- Implement and operate observability solutions across software, infrastructure, and hardware-near layers
- Participate in incident response, post-mortems, and root cause analyses for system failures
- Identify operational risks and propose measures for risk mitigation
- Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual operational effort and improve system stability
- Maintain and develop operational standards, runbooks, and technical documentation
- Contribute to CI/CD and release processes with a focus on reliability and secure deployments
- Collaborate with development teams to support production-ready system architectures
