Job summary

This Site Reliability Engineer operates and improves observability infrastructure providing central telemetry and logging for services used by hundreds of millions of people. The role spans deploying, monitoring, and automating services across globally distributed systems, improving reliability, scalability, security, and performance, and responding to incidents through an on-call rotation. The environment includes Linux, Kubernetes, and open-source, licensed, and internally developed tools.

Qualifications

• Experience managing diverse systems with configuration management or software delivery platforms such as Puppet and Spinnaker.
• Experience deploying, supporting, and monitoring services, platforms, and application stacks.
• Experience with scale testing, disaster recovery, and capacity planning.
• Familiarity with microservices and Kubernetes container orchestration.
• Experience managing and scaling distributed systems in public, private, or hybrid cloud environments.
• Ability to design, write, and release code in Go, Python, or similar languages.
• Ability to automate manual operations and iteratively improve them.
• Understanding of Linux, networking protocols, and networking components.
• Strong ownership, integrity, communication, and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, support, and monitor services, platforms, and application stacks in production and non-production environments.
• Design and implement resilient, scalable infrastructure based on partner requirements.
• Develop and deliver software that improves service availability, scalability, and security.
• Automate provisioning, configuration, deployment, and monitoring.
• Use scale testing to tune performance and contribute to capacity planning and disaster recovery.
• Evaluate and integrate technologies to improve reliability, security, and performance.
• Participate in code, infrastructure, and design reviews and improve engineering processes.
• Provide technical support during service-impacting incidents as part of an on-call rotation.
