Job summary
This SRE/DevOps Engineer supports cloud engineering for SmartThings, maintaining the reliability, scalability, and performance of critical systems processing terabytes of data daily. The role automates and manages cloud infrastructure, deployments, and releases; improves reliability and observability; and integrates SRE practices into development workflows. It also contributes to system design, capacity planning, platform management, operational documentation, and follow-the-sun on-call rotations.

Qualifications
- At least 7 years of experience in SRE or DevOps roles
- Hands-on experience with AWS and foundational knowledge of Azure or GCP
- Practical experience with Kubernetes and Istio
- Proficiency in Linux system administration, networking, and security
- Working knowledge of Terraform or Ansible and GitHub Actions
- Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry
- Python or Bash scripting experience for automation
- Ability to communicate technical concepts across teams

- Improve the reliability of managed services and infrastructure
- Integrate best practices into the software development lifecycle
- Share knowledge with and support junior engineers
- Implement tools that address stakeholder needs
- Apply SRE and DevOps practices, including service-level objectives and automation-first approaches
- Manage cloud infrastructure, deployments, and release operations
- Evaluate and adopt technologies to improve infrastructure efficiency
- Contribute to system design, capacity planning, and platform management
- Maintain architecture and troubleshooting documentation
- Participate in follow-the-sun on-call rotations
