Job summary
The Site Reliability Engineer helps maintain secure, scalable, high-availability infrastructure supporting OSINT solutions and workloads that can exceed petabytes of data. The role involves designing and managing distributed systems with Linux, Docker, Hadoop, Ceph, Elasticsearch, and Kubernetes; planning deployments and migrations; securing cloud and bare-metal networks on AWS and Azure; and improving monitoring, logging, performance, and reliability. Periodic on-call duties are included.

Qualifications
- Experience or strong interest in managing complex distributed systems and infrastructure.
- Knowledge of one or more of Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, Ceph, Hadoop, Elasticsearch, and Yugabyte.
- Experience or interest in securing complex IT infrastructure, including threat detection, network traffic monitoring, and suspicious activity analysis.
- Ability to design scalable, maintainable, and secure systems.
- Willingness to participate in periodic on-call duty.
- Infrastructure-as-code experience, such as Salt, or cloud-native observability experience, such as Prometheus or Grafana, is a bonus.
- EU citizenship, residence in or near Groningen, and Dutch proficiency at B1 level or higher.
Responsibilities
- Design, improve, and manage large-scale infrastructure using Linux, Docker, Hadoop, Ceph, Elasticsearch, and Kubernetes.
- Contribute to architecture decisions and prepare deployment and migration plans.
- Configure secure, scalable cloud and bare-metal networks using AWS and Azure.
- Optimize monitoring, logging, availability, performance, and security.
- Participate in on-call rotations to maintain platform continuity.
