Software Engineer - Cloud & DevSecOps

Job summary

Develops and modernizes secure, scalable web applications and supporting infrastructure for a mission-critical Department of Defense research, development, test, and evaluation environment. The role covers full-stack engineering, Azure and AWS cloud operations, GitLab CI/CD automation, Docker and Kubernetes deployments, Helm charts, and HashiCorp Vault, with a focus on secure software development, system reliability, and technical collaboration with government and cybersecurity stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Five to eight years of relevant experience in software engineering, full-stack development, cloud engineering, DevOps, or a related discipline.
• IAT Level 2 certification, such as CompTIA Security+.
• Active Top Secret security clearance.
• Experience developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise web applications.
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript and modern software development principles.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and/or AWS.
• Experience with GitLab version control, CI/CD pipeline development, configuration, and automation.
• Experience with automated software testing and validation.
• Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
• Experience with HashiCorp Vault or comparable secrets management technology.
• Understanding of software architecture, application integration, secure coding, and vulnerability remediation.
• Ability to diagnose complex technical issues and work independently with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and enhance secure, scalable web applications for mission-critical RDT&E operations.
• Support application deployment, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting in Azure and AWS environments.
• Develop and optimize GitLab CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and software delivery processes.
• Configure and maintain Helm charts and support application deployments in Docker and Kubernetes environments.
• Implement secure configuration and secrets management using HashiCorp Vault.
• Integrate security practices into application design, development, testing, and deployment.
• Collaborate with government stakeholders, engineers, system administrators, and cybersecurity teams to develop technical solutions.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across applications, cloud infrastructure, networking, and supporting services.
