Software Engineer/ SRE (Linux)

Job summary

Visa is seeking a Software Engineer/SRE hybrid engineer to support their Cloud platform strategy, ensuring development tools allow engineers to focus on innovation and enhancing security, availability, and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in IT Operations and Delivery.
• Beginner programming/scripting in Python, Java, Go, PowerShell, JavaScript, Terraform, Ansible, Helm, Chef, Cloud Formation.
• Basic understanding of YAML, JSON, HTML, XML.
• Experience in Linux and/or Windows systems.
• Experience with CI-CD tooling in large-scale environments.
• Experience with observability tooling in large-scale environments.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
• Experience in Platform, SRE, or Production Engineering.
• Experience managing distributed container platforms.
• Experience managing container infrastructure.
• On-call support required for 24/7 operations.
• Proficiency in at least one DevTool.
• Strong understanding of CI-CD principles.
• Knowledge of Linux systems, networking, and containerization.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms.
• Proficiency in Python, Ansible, or similar languages.
• Strong problem-solving skills and systems thinking.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary contact for developers using DevTools.
• Troubleshoot and resolve tool-related issues.
• Maintain and optimize CI-CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with development teams to improve workflows.
• Design and maintain systems for high availability.
• Monitor and improve application reliability.
• Develop observability solutions.
• Participate in on-call rotations.
• Document processes and troubleshooting guides.
• Advocate for automation and self-service solutions.
