Software Sovereign Cloud Engineer

Job summary

The Software Sovereign Cloud Engineer supports stable and secure cloud operations by diagnosing and resolving complex issues through 2nd-level support. The role works with international SRE and engineering teams to improve cloud services, represents customer requirements to product and operations teams, and contributes to a collaborative 24/7 support model. The work involves cloud architecture, IT security, infrastructure automation, and technologies including GCP, Linux/Unix, Shell or Python, Terraform, and Ansible.

Qualifications

• Practical technical support experience or relevant IT projects from education, training, or personal initiatives.
• Strong problem-solving ability and experience in a dynamic cloud or IT environment.
• Basic knowledge of Linux/Unix systems and networking technologies.
• Some scripting experience, such as Shell or Python, and experience with database queries.
• Interest in monitoring tools, IT security, and public cloud technologies such as Google Cloud Platform.
• Knowledge of SRE practices, including SLI/SLO/SLA, error budgets, monitoring, and postmortems, is an advantage.
• Knowledge of DevSecOps practices, Infrastructure as Code, Git, continuous deployment, Terraform, or Ansible is an advantage.
• Very good written and spoken German and English.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues through 2nd-level support to maintain stable, secure cloud operations.
• Collaborate with international SRE and engineering teams on lasting issue resolution and cloud service improvements.
• Represent customer requirements to product and operations teams.
• Develop and apply knowledge of cloud architecture, IT security, and infrastructure automation.
• Participate in a 24/7 support model, cross-functional projects, and knowledge sharing.
