Job summary

The Splunk Platform Engineer is responsible for the design, administration, operation, security, and sustainment of the Splunk Enterprise platform and its supporting Linux-based infrastructure for U.S. Air Force Test Operations. Key responsibilities include administering Splunk infrastructure, performing Linux system administration, configuring data ingestion, and developing Splunk Search Processing Language (SPL) searches and dashboards to meet operational and cybersecurity requirements.

• Bachelor’s degree in IT-related field (or 4 years of IT-related experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree)
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret level security clearance
• Due to Air Force Security requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required for employment at AEDC

Responsibilities

• Administer and sustain Splunk Enterprise infrastructure
• Perform Linux system-administration tasks
• Configure, operate, and maintain Splunk Enterprise components
• Monitor the health, availability, performance, storage capacity
• Configure and manage Splunk data ingestion
• Administer Splunk users, roles, authentication integrations
• Develop, maintain, and optimize Splunk SPL searches
• Install, configure, test, upgrade, and maintain Splunk apps
• Implement and maintain automation for Splunk
• Apply, validate, document, and remediate STIG requirements
• Perform vulnerability remediation and security hardening
• Maintain system diagrams, configuration records, runbooks
• Partner with cybersecurity, network, server, storage teams
• Participate in maintenance windows and provide after-hours support
