Job summary

SWIVEL is seeking a high-performing, hands-on Senior DevOps Engineer to support critical customer-facing platforms, ensuring consistent uptime and driving continuous improvement and innovation. This role involves refining deployment practices for improved reliability, repeatability, and security, as well as designing effective monitoring, alerting, and log aggregation solutions.

Qualifications

  • AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, Developer)
  • At least three years managing AWS infrastructure
  • At least five years DevOps engineering experience
  • At least three years with CDK or CloudFormation
  • At least three years with Github CI/CD
  • Strong software engineering or programming background (Python, C#, or .NET preferred)
  • Proven experience with industry standard monitoring and alerting tools
  • Proficiency with Docker, ECS, and microservice architecture
  • Proficiency with log aggregation tools (e.g., ELK, Splunk)
  • Experience architecting and deploying advanced cloud infrastructures within AWS
  • Solid understanding of web services, databases, and related infrastructure/architectures
  • Solid understanding of backup/restore best practices
  • Experience releasing software through tooling (e.g., Azure DevOps, Github Actions, Jenkins)
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Experience supporting an enterprise-level technology environment
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication and documentation skills
  • Demonstrable experience with cloud security fundamentals
  • Excellent collaboration skills across various business units
  • Proactive attitude with a focus on timely and budget-conscious delivery

Responsibilities

  • Refine deployment practices for improved reliability, repeatability, and security
  • Create plans and collaborate with DevOps, software engineering, and business teams
  • Design effective monitoring and alerting for application errors and high memory usage
  • Design log aggregation approaches for troubleshooting and trend analysis
  • Proactively notify business stakeholders of issues and communicate metrics
  • Deliver excellence to Software Engineering teams, maximizing development velocity
  • Enforce best practices and security standards
  • Own, architect, and manage AWS infrastructure components (e.g., Lambda, ECS)
  • Build with security and compliance in mind
  • Deploy to AWS via GitHub-based source control and CI/CD pipeline design
  • Own technical design and implementation of automation technologies for cloud infrastructure
  • Create policies and procedures for supporting microservice architecture
  • Ensure cloud-based architectures meet availability and recoverability requirements
  • Implement cloud-based monitoring and alerting
  • Identify scalability bottlenecks and performance improvements
  • Set standards for excellence in cloud infrastructure design and automation
  • Actively monitor risks to site SLAs and overall delivery
