Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Sr Principal DevOps Engineer (Cloud) at Schriever Space Force Base, CO. This role focuses on deploying, managing, and maintaining large-scale on-premises cloud and hyperconverged infrastructure solutions, with an emphasis on lifecycle management of containerized environments and infrastructure automation. The position supports the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program, a critical operational system for missile defense.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field with 8 years of experience
  • Master’s degree in a related field with 6 years of relevant work experience
  • 12 years of relevant work experience as an alternative to a degree
  • Current, active DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, CND)
  • Maintain DoD 8140 certification throughout the contract period
  • Current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance
  • Willingness to travel 10% of the time
  • Proven experience managing the lifecycle of Nutanix or Red Hat OpenShift clusters in an on-premises environment
  • Hands-on experience managing Kubernetes clusters using Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP) and OpenShift
  • Proficiency in deploying applications and services using Helm charts and Kubernetes Operators
  • Strong background in automation and configuration management with Ansible
  • Practical experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and supporting infrastructure with GitLab (including managing GitLab Runners)
  • Experience in Linux and/or Windows Server system administration
  • Experience with scripting languages like Bash, Python, or PowerShell
  • Experience administering virtualization technologies such as VMware
  • Experience with integrating Windows Server and Active Directory within a cloud environment
  • Scrum Master certification or experience working in Agile/Scrum teams

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, manage, and maintain large-scale on-premises cloud and hyperconverged infrastructure solutions
  • Manage the lifecycle of containerized environments and infrastructure automation
  • Deploy, maintain, and manage the lifecycle of on-premises cloud clusters on Nutanix and/or Red Hat OpenShift
  • Manage and scale enterprise Kubernetes clusters with Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP) and OpenShift
  • Deploy applications, services, and middleware with Helm charts and Kubernetes Operators
  • Use Ansible for extensive infrastructure automation and configuration management
  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure with GitLab and GitLab Runners
  • Track the impact of events and actions on the underlying infrastructure
  • Perform proactive monitoring, patching, and maintenance of virtual and containerized environments
