Sr/Staff Site Reliability Engineer, Consumer Apps

Job summary

Build and maintain cloud-native infrastructure and supporting tools for large-scale financial products, prioritizing automation, reliability, security, performance, and developer experience. The role uses AI coding agents, Terraform, Helm, GitLab pipelines, Kubernetes, and Istio, and includes operating GCP databases, improving CI/CD, and building observability with Prometheus and Grafana. It also involves collaborating on architecture, capacity planning, and monitoring critical systems.

Qualifications

• At least 6 years of experience building and maintaining large-scale cloud-native infrastructure on AWS or GCP.
• Experience directing AI coding agents to build, operate, and debug infrastructure, with strong judgment in verifying their work.
• Track record of replacing manual operations with durable automation.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Istio or a similar service mesh.
• Experience with SQL databases such as MySQL, BigQuery, and Google Spanner.
• Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka or Amazon Kinesis.
• Experience with messaging technologies such as AWS SNS or Google Pub/Sub.
• Experience with serverless technologies such as AWS Lambda, Google Cloud Functions, or Google Cloud Run.
• Experience with infrastructure as code, such as Terraform.
• Experience with observability tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Experience with SOC 2 and PCI compliance processes and requirements.

Responsibilities

• Use AI agents to develop, test, and operate infrastructure code.
• Create and maintain internal agentic tools and harnesses.
• Automate manual processes across existing and new systems.
• Write Terraform modules and deploy infrastructure through GitLab pipelines.
• Develop Helm charts for services and jobs running in Kubernetes.
• Define metrics, network policies, and routing rules for the Istio service mesh.
• Monitor and maintain BigQuery, Spanner, and CloudSQL databases.
• Build Prometheus metrics, Grafana dashboards, and alerts.
• Collaborate with engineering leads to instrument and monitor critical functionality.
• Contribute to architecture design and capacity planning.
• Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines.
